SimConnect

By default, VAS ACARS will use FSUIPC to record your flight. This is the most widely supported method, but can be unstable since it relies on the FSUIPC library and does not natively integrate with the simulator. Therefore, we always recommend using SimConnect if your simulator supports it.

To overcome this, VAS ACARS can use SimConnect to record your flight. This is usually a more stable method, but it requires a SimConnect-available simulator. The following simulators are supported:

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator X
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
  • Prepar3D

If you are using X-Plane, you can use our X-Plane plugin to record your flight. You can find more information about this on our X-Plane page.

To enable SimConnect support, follow these instructions:

  1. Open VAS ACARS
  2. Click the Settings icon in the top-right hand corner
  3. Click the Simulator Connector tab
  4. Click on Use for the SimConnect connector

You can also use the Simulator Connector tab to switch back to FSUIPC if you find that SimConnect is unstable.

Aircraft

If you are using one of these aircraft, we highly recommend using the SimConnect connector since these are not well-supported by our FSUIPC connector:

  • Majestic MJC8 Q400
  • FlyByWire A32NX
  • Headwind A339X

You will get a warning if you are using one of these aircraft and are not using the SimConnect connector. If you are not using the SimConnect connector, some of the flight scoring on your flight may be incorrect. For example, for the Headwind A339X, the landing gear status will not be detected correctly in the development version.
